Poupette Leads All The Way At Hutt Park

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. Poupette, an unlucky runner on the first night of the meeting when fourth, made amends by leading all the way in the Worthy Queen Handicap on the second night of the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting at Hutt Park last night.

Poupette and Queen’s Cord disputed all the pace, with Poupette having a slight edge on her rival all the way. Nevertheless, it took a photofinish to separate the pair. Third was When, which broke at the top of the straight and seemingly lost any chance of a placing. The mare settled down again quickly, however, and finished brilliantly to nose out Flying Maiden. The double was completed by Solemn, which beat Southern Song and Nigger Minstrel in the Au Revoir Handicap. The dividend for £1 was £l6B 14s.

The weather was fine and the track fast.
