New Case For Skill Margins

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 18. The Federation of Labour will seek margins for skill, extra holidays, long-service leave and special incentives for the printing trade, when it takes a case for a new award to the Arbitration Court on February 1.

The advocate for the printers will be Mr T. E Skinner, president of the F.O.L. The F.O.L. made application for an award hearing late last year after the Court declined an earlier application for a 36 per cent wage margin for all skilled workers in the printing industry. Mr Skinner said in Auckland today that he would seek

an immediate extension of annual holidays from two to three weeks. The trade wanted a calendar month's leave after 10 years’ service. Long-service leave at award rates of pay would be sought on the following terms—2o years’ service, two months; 30 years’ service, four months; and 40 years’ service, six months. The hearing is expected to take about four days.
