200 Sharks Sighted
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 18. Schools of sharks, numbering about 200, were sighted circling off Red Beach and Orewa, 20 miles north of Auckland, this morning.
Swimmers at both beaches were being kept informed of the position of the sharks by loudspeaker. The sharks, of varying types, are estimated to average about seven or eight feet in length.
The were originally spotted by Tourist Air Travel planes making pleasure flights from the beaches this morning. Another aircraft is taking photographs of the sharks, and keeping in touch with the beach patrols.
