Two Youths Die In Road Accidents
An 18-year-old youth was killed instantly when the car he was driving collided with a sheep truck at Ryal Bush just after mid-day yesterday, the Press Association reports.
He was Russell Alexander George, of Ryal Bush. He was the only occupant of the car. The driver of the sheep truck, Lesley George Irwin, a farmer, of Browns, was severely shocked. The accident occurred at the Ryal Bush exchange corner. The sheep crate landed on top of the car, crushing it and killing 35 of the 128 lambs in the crate. Mr George was the son of Mr Cyril George, who was a Southland Rugby representative 30 years ago. Student Killed A student was killed when his motor-cycle failed to take a bend on the main Whangaparaoa road, north of Auckland, at 1.15 a.m. yesterday.
