Veterinary Test Apparent Success
Although Mr W. L. Bagrie has not yet been officially advised, Orbiter has apparently passed the veterinary examination which will complete his sale to an American syndicate for more than 100,000 dollars.
Mr Bagrie learned that Orbiter had passed the examination and that the sale of the horse had been confirmed when he read a newspaper report from Auckland, which was published at the weekend.
The only indication Mr Bagrie previously had that the examination was successful was on Friday when Mr Noel Simpson, acting for the American syndicate, told him before returning to Auckland that as far as he was concerned everything was all right and that he was sending the X-ray plates of the horse’s legs, the cardiograph and the veterinary report to the United States. “There was nothing mentioned about the horse having passed the examination,” said
Mr Bagrie last evening. “I was left with the impression that if all the relevant material regarding the examination satisfied the syndicate, then, and only then, would the money be paid.”
Avante Sold To U.S. F. Mollica, the American trainer who has been an active buyer since his arrival in New Zealand a few weeks ago, has made another purchase. Yesterday, it was announced that he had bought Avante.
Avante, which reached New Zealand Cup class, did all his racing for Mr and Mrs A. Spark, who purchased him as a yearling for 130gns. He is an aged gelding by Forward from Wee Doll.
