REPORT DENIED
New Zealand’s Olympic shot and discus representative, Mrs V. I. Young, has still not made up her mind whether to come out of retirement and make a late bid for Empire Games selection or not.
A Press Association message from Hamilton said that Mrs Young had told friends that she would definitely be competing in the national championships on March 4 and 5 and that she would also try and qualify for Jamaica.
When this was referred to her husband, a former high hurdles champion, Mr G. R. Young, he said: “This is the first we have heard of it”
Mr Young, who has been chosen as an official time-keeper for the Empire Games this year, said that he could not understand where the information could have originated.
