Decisive N.S.W. Win For M.C.C.

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) NEW CASTLE (New South Wales), January 17. The M.C.C. raced to a 10 wickets win with two and a half hours to spare on the final day of their threeday match against northern New South Wales country districts at Newcastle today.

The country team collapsed after lunch, when their innings was wrecked by the off-spinner, Fred Titmus, who had a spell of four wickets for six runs in five overs, finishing with four for 29.

The M.C.C. appeared to be heading for an innings victory until the last wicket pair, Colyn Whitehead and Les Ellis, hit out. In the end they had to hit 12 runs in their second innings to win. The country team were without their captain, Max Fox, who has developed pleurisy and was visited bv his opposite number. Mike Smith, in bed before play started. The M.C.C. also had a casualty. The batsman, Eric Russell, left the field after half on hour with damaged thigh muscles. He is likely to be fit again soon. John Ikin, a 47-year-old former England all-rounder, who is baggage master for the tour, substituted, and held a good catch. Overnight the M.C.C. were all out for 449 in reply to the

country team’s 334 and the odds seemed to be on a draw. But after their opening batsmen had put on 50 in 65 minutes today the home team were all out for 126 and the M.C.C. made 13 for no wickets to win. Scores: NORTHERN N.S.W.
