Leading Swimmers Improve Times

An increased entry and improved times y some of the leading swimmers gave extra an i n^er -club swimming meeting held at Elmwood on Saturday.

M. Kindle finished the 100 yards junior boys’ freestyle, to beat A. Kindred in a close race in 56.95ec. Kindred took his revenge in the 440 yards by beating L. Furness by half a second. W. Brown took 3min 16.3 sec in the 220-yards breaststroke, but Miss T. Shipston was only Bsec slower over the same distance. D. Bowman W’on the 100 yards backstroke by a second from C. Kinder and O. Noonan dominated the 100 yards butterfly. The most closely-contested race was the second heat of the junior boys’ four-length medley. R. Wilson won from P- Hay and B. Mustchin in 67sec. There was only a second between all three. Miss Shipston swam the course in an excellent 73.45ec.
