J. Carrodus In Form A wonderful all-round display by the Akaroa opening batsman and medium pace bowler, J. Carrodus, was the chief feature of the Banks Peninsula Cricket Sub-Association matches played yesterday.
Scoring 107 runs, Carrodus added 190 runs for the first wicket against Wainui, with T. Haley (106), also left-handed, and then captured 12 wickets for 95 runs. He was chiefly instrumental in dismissing Wainui for 149 and 49 runs, to give his team an innings victory.
Kaituna upset the competition leaders, United, on the first innings, while Le Bons defeated Little River, also on the first innings.
Competition points, after the third match of the third round, are:—United 74, Akaroa 61, Little River 58, Le Bons 51, Kaituna 37, Wainui 31. Scores were:—
Akaroa 270/5 dec. (T. Haley 106, J. Carrodus 107, T. Rhodes 25) defeated Wainui 149 (J. Palmer 39, E. Harrington 31; J. Carrodus 7/71) and 49 (J. Carrodus 5/24, P. Cook 2/7) by an innings and 72 runs.
Le Bons 207/9 dec. (P. Delatour 31, M. Wright 28, D. Masefield 58, P. Johnston 37; M. Johnston 2/38, D. Mitchell 3/26, C. Coop 2/8) defeated Little River 185 (M. Johnston 63, J. Humphries 57 not out; P. J. Johnston 5/70, P. Mackay 3/27) by 22 runs.
Kaituna defeated United on the first innings.
