True Title Impressive Winner At Rosehill

SYDNEY. The four-year-old gelding, True Title, showed be has ail the makings of a top-class stayer when he won his first race since coming from New Zealand at Rosehill on Saturday. True Title beat the odds-on favourite, Union Jack, by two lengths in the 10-furlong Auburn Stakes, with Flying Smoke a short half head away third. True Title is being discussed as an autumn cups prospect. His connexions have no immediate plans for him. although they are believed to be considering the rich staying races later in the year. True Title, by Fair’s Fair out of Regan, won only one race in New Zealand. There was plenty of support for him yesterday. although he drifted in the market from 7/2 to start at 5/1.
The jockey. A. Muliey, rode a perfectly judged race on the gelding after winning the start, and kept him handy throughout until he went into the lead in the straight.
The top-weight, the New Zealander, Bright Chat, having his first race in Australia, found no support and. starting at 100 >. led early, but faded at the halfmile to finish last. The New Zealanders, Twickenham and Pharmacy, failed in the main race of the day, the £l4BO Parramatta Cup over one and a half miles, which went to Persian Puzxle, an eight-year-old carrying top-weight of 9-0 He broke the track record with an impressive 2min 29.35ec. Starting at 13/2, he beat Ancestor (13/2) by a short head, with Lasting a length and threequarters away third. Pharmacy, a Khorassan six-year-old. was fourth at the half-mile when he made a forward move, but was three wide and struggling. He slipped to fifth and eventually finished sixth.
Twickenham, a seven-year-old which had five wins in his previous seven starts In Australia, drifted in the betting from 7/1 to start at 10/1 and ran an unimpressive race, finishing eighth of the 10-horse field. The Summertime two-year-old colt. Summer Folly, which has shown no form to date, ran a good third to Affable in the Second Two-Year-Old Handicap Affable (2/1 on favourite) gave his owner, 24-year-old Lord Vestey, his first win in Australia, winning by a half neck from War and Peace (7/1), with Summer Folly (33/1) half a length away. A Le Filou gelding. Dunrobin. which has been in great form, winning his last three races on country tracks in Victoria, made an impressive debut on a metropolitan track when he ran second In the Second Granville Stakes, of six furlongs. Dunrobin <»/!> was beaten half a length by Party Lass 19/1), with the 256/1 outsile. The Press, one and a quarter lengths away third.
