Darfield Leads An Innings victory against Kirwee returned the lead in the Malvern’ Cricket Sub-Asso-ciatlon to Darfield when the first match of the second round was completed during the weekend. Darfield, which scored only 161 runs, dismissed Kirwee for 61 and 83 In Its two innings. C. Adams scored 153 runs, chanceless until he had passed 100, in one of his rare appearances for Greendale. P. Blakely scored a rapid 80 runs for Hororata against South Malvern and captured five for 58. Competition points after the first match of the second round are:—Darfield 54, Sheffield 45, Greendale 26, Kirwee 19, Hororata 16, South Malvern 2.
Results were:— Darfield 161 beat Kirwee 61 and 83 (R. Middlewood 25; M. Frew 4/20, B. Johnston 3/10) by an innings and 17 runs. Hororata 154 and 127/2 declared (P. Blakley 80, A. Ransom 36 not out) beat South Malvern 143 (R. Stuart 47, R. Tillson 35; E. Richards 3/19, L. Moore 4/28) and 134/8 (R. Stuart 34, J. Marsh 32; P. Blakley 5/58) on the first Innings. Greendale 328/9 declared (C. Adams 153, B. Rldgen 58, K. Shipley 49; D. Carroll 4/89) beat Sheffield 233 and 92/2 (L. Innes 36 not out) on the first innings.
