Jones scythed through the home defence and after a 40yard run his pass enabled Pask to score easily. Price converted and Wales was 11-3 ahead. Perry reduced the arrears with a last-minute try. In the other championship match at Edinburgh, France was lucky to escape with a 3-3 draw in its match agadnst Scotland. Scotland, last in last season's championship, threatened to swamp the French, but the visitors’ backs played heroically and siaved their side from defeat. Results:

England 6, Wales 11; Scotland 3, France 3; Ireland, internatinal trial final, Whites, 30 Blues 6 (at Dublin).
