Woman Caught Converter

(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 14, A youth who tried to convert a woman’s car eventually accompanied her to a police station in it, Sergeant I. V. Edwards told Mr F. McCarthy, S.M., today. Michael Tamou. aged 19, a cheese-factory worker, admitted a charge of car conversion and was remanded to January 21 for sentence. Mr Edwards said the woman caught Tamou in the act of driving off in her car. He leaped out and ran off but the woman pursued him in the car. She persuaded Tamou to accompany her to the police by telling him the police were already on the way and that she would keep chasing him until they arrived.
