Ceylon Passes Language Law

Ceylon’s controversial language regulations were approved by the House of Representatives yesterday—after a stormy debate and police intervention to remove two Opposition members. The two men were carried out shortly before the vote in favour of the Government's legislation, which allows the Tamil language, as well as Sinhala, to be used in official business in the northern and eastern provinces.
