Architect To Work In Afghanistan
Mr G. A. Warden, assistant district architect in the Ministry of Works, Wellington, left recently for Kabul, Afghanistan, under a Colombo Plan appointment. He will be there for two years. The Government of Afghanistan has started a big scheme of building vocational schools in which to provide muchneeded training in technical skills. The World Bank is providing the finance and the buildings are being designed by West German architects. Mr Warden will advise and assist the Afghanistan Government during the building programme. He will work with a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation team, in which New Zealand is well represented, engaged on improving the standard of education in Afghanistan.
