KIWIS WIN AGAIN

Innings Victory

(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) GRAFTON (N.S W.)

The Canterbury Kiwis cricket team again showed their liking for the hard Australian wickets when they scored 339 for 9 declared in 263 minutes against North Coast at Grafton. All batsmen were in good form, C. L. Broad, P. A. Stubbings and R. C. Merrin playing fine innings. When North Coast batted, it was soon in trouble to the pace and swing of Merrin. Two magnificent catches in the slips by N. W. Wilder contributed a great deal to the home team’s dismal start of three wickets for nine. The side was all out for 89, Merrin finishing with six for 13.

North Coast could do little better in the second innings and again failed to reach the hundred mark. As in the first innings, Merrin and M. G. Lester did the damage, while Wilder had a field day in the slips, taking seven catches. Canterbury Kiwis won by an innings and 153 runs. Scores: Kiwis 330-9 dec. (R. C. Merrin 71 not out, C. L. Broad 47, P. A. Stubbings 46). North Coast 89 (Merrin 6/13, Lester 3/28) and 97 (Lester 4/19, Merrin 4/39).
