Increased Air Traffic

Over the holiday period from December 20 to January 9 the National Airways Corporation carried 16,700 passengers from Christchurch—an increase of 3219 on the figure a year ago.

Of these passengers, said the deputy-manager of the Christchurch branch (Mr J. P. Glasson) 9027 flew to Wellington. Passengers to other airports were:—Auckland, 3201: Nelson, 573; Palmerston North, 665; Blenheim, 248: Timaru, 434: and Dunedin and Invercargill 2552. Most of the pasengers, said Mr Glasson, were adults.
