Minor Fires

A 4ft-square smoke box, used for smoking fish, and a small section of paling fence at 205 Wainoni road were destroyed by fire yesterday. One machine from the New Brighton brigade and one from Headquarters answered the call at 11.27 a.m. The occupier of the property is Mrs L. Kalnitis. A grass and straw fire at 196 Antigua street at 12.55 p.m. yesterday did no damage. The occupier of the property is Mr R. Walker. Two Headquarters machines attended.

Fire burnt about quarter of an acre of grass and scrub on the Marine parade foreshore near Shackleton street yesterday. Two machines from New Brighton and one from Headquarters answered at 1.25 p.m. One machine from Sydenham answered a call to a fire in a tree stump on the comer of Buxton and Palatine terraces about 4 p.m. yesterday. The fire did no damage.
