COMPUTER SCIENCE

New Course At Victoria (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 14. The first course in computer science in New Zealand will begin at Victoria University this year. The course will be run by Dr. R. B. Payne, senior lecturer in computing mathematics at the university. The class will be restricted to 30, mostly graduates in the university or from Government departments, although some undergraduates may be accepted. More than 30 applications have already been received.

The course is designed to teach the aspects and uses of computers and students will use the university’s computer. Computer programmes will be devised by the students but no examinations will be taken at the end of the course.
