MEN PARTLY BURIED

Side Of Ditch Collapsed (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, Jan. 14. The vibrations of a bus were thought to have caused a cave-in which partially buried two Timaru City Council employees working in a lOft-deep ditch in Arthur street on Thursday afternoon. The side of the ditch collapsed, covering Mr F. Kinnaird, aged 54, of 34 Buchanan street to his neck, and Mr G. Phillips, aged 33, of 11A College road, to his waist. They were trapped about an hour.

The men were removing a layer of clay covering an old stormwater drain.
