RELIEF IN KENYA

Russia Sends Food (N-Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NAIROBI, Jan. 14. A Russian plane arrived in Kenya yesterday with foodstuffs worth £4OOO given by the Soviet Red Cross to famine relief in Kenya. At an airport handing-over ceremony, Kenya’s Foreign Minister, Mr Joseph Murumbi, described the gift as a generous gesture.

Mr Murumbi said although the famine situation had improved there were still some 220,000 people being fed by famine relief in 28 districts in the country. The Russian gift included three tons of sugar, 2000 tins of condensed milk and vitamin tablets.
