16 Horses Qualify
Sixteen horses qualified to race at totalisator meetings when they bettered 3.29 for a mile and a half in qualifying trials held by the Canterbury Owners’ and Breeders’ Association at Ashburton yesterday. The fastest time was recorded by Cheribon, winner of the second heat. This three-year-old Braham filly, which J. 'A. Carmichael prepares at Templeton for Messrs L. G. Skurr and T. A. Judson, took 3min 24 2-ssec. The Tinwald owner-trainer, W E. Lowe, produced two winners. Carew, a three-year-old Newport Chief filly, won the first heat in 3m in 25 4-ssec. and Ann Field, a three-year-old Thurber Frost filly, clipped 4-ssec off that time in winning the third] heat.
