OFFICERS SACKED
Storemen’s
Union
CV-Z Press Association; AUCKLAND, January 12.
The removal of three officers and the seven-member executive of the Auckland Storemen’s and Packers’ Union in a secret ballot is thought to be the first complete dismissal of a union executive in New Zealand.
The ballot was counted this week.
Of about 3500 ballot papers sent out to Auckland members, 812 were returned, with 697 members voting for removal and 110 against. Members are awaiting a direction from the Department of Labour on what steps should be taken to install a new administration. The removal was because of internal discontent over the administration of union affairs, a union member said today.
