England has no intention of playing safe the remainder of the test series with Australia in order to retain its 1-0 lead in the battle for the Ashes. “Any approach like this would be contrary to everything we have tried to achieve on the tour so far,” Mr S. C. Griffith, the M.C.C. manager, said yesterday. “We shall continue to try and get results at all times, treating each game as an entity.
