Praying For Rain

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 13. South African churches have today called for a day of prayer for rain. Water restrictions came into force yesterday in the country’s main industrial and goldmining areas after a long drought. A statement from the office of the Prime Minister, Dr. Verwoerd, in Cape Town gave the prayer-call full backing, and appealed to employers to allow workers to attend the special services next Tuesday.
