Sir,—ln reply to the question, “Should Mr Harold Wilson have an election in March?” my answer is “No!” All the signs and portents in the article by R. L. Leonard to “The Press” today point to a Labour victory at the present moment. You interpolated a quotation: “If I were Prime Minister, I’d have the election in March” (Lord Atlee, last week). My experience with politicians is that they can only recognise truth when their noses are rubbed on it. This was my experience when trying to promote trade with Japan just after the war, when the social hate for the Japanese had not faded out.
