WEIR HOUSE EXTENSIONS
Work To Cost £200,000 (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 12. Work on the extensions and additions to Weir House, the Victoria University student hostel will begin next week. The work will cost £200,000. and take 18 months to complete. The extensions will provide an extra 100 student places, new kitchen and dining-room blocks to serve the whole hostel and three small flats for assistant wardens. The extensions will double the number of places availabl for students and th? work is the first major reorganisation of the hostel since it was opened in 1933. The work also calls for the demolition of an old recreation room, staff accommodation and some reorganisation within the existing hostel, to provide more study-bedrooms
