Victory In Kiwis ’ 1st Tour Game

LISMORE (New South Wales). The Canterbury Kiwis began their Australian tour with a first innings win over Far North Coast at Lismore.
Batting first on a perfect pitch, the Kiwis scored at a fast rate to total 302 in 263 minutes.
R. C Bromley and C. L. Bull gave the side a good start by scoring 49 for the first wicket, and this was followed by partnerships of 87 by Bromley and C. L. Broad
| for the second wicket and 88 [by R. M. Gearry and R. C. Merrin for the seventh wicket. Far North Coast also started well and the innings of J. Walsh, who made 64. including 12 boundaries, almost carried the day for the home team. But an inspired spell of fast bowling by D. G. Trist with the second new ball ruined any chance that Far North Coast had of catching the Kiwi’s total. In the hour's batting time left the Kiwis scored 103 for two wickets. Broad was again in good form, scoring 59, with nine fours. Scores: — Canterbury Kiwis 302 (Bromley 63, Merrin 53. Gearry 51, Broad 48, Bull 24, Trist 23 not out) and 103/2 (Broad 59, Buller 30 not out). Far North Coast 276 (Trist 4/33. Broad, 3/31, Merrin 3/89).
