Sea Search
Sir, —Everyone will agree with the views expressed by “Sea Dog” and will find the weak explanation of the Hinemoa’s action as given by Mr Edwards very sad reading. If, as he states, there was no general alarm at that time, A.S.R. and the aeroplanes searching 5000 square miles of ocean must have been just some sort of New Year’s junketing! And who was the somewhat nebulous person who ordered the master of the Hinemoa to keep on course? No, all the honours go to the Maunganui which without radio contact, sighted, investigated and rescued the Helen in true seamanlike traditional style.—Yours, etc., YACHTSMAN. January 12, 1966.
