Leading Boats Neighbours
<Neu> Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA. Three yachting representative crews from the Wellington area are leading the Cornwell Cup contest after four races on Tauranga harbour.
Paremata, with a win in the fourth race yesterday afternoon, is leading on points from Wellington, second, and Titahi Bay, third.
Tauranga, winner of 'he morning race, led the fleet after the first beat in the afternoon. Wellington with the fine spinnaker handling the for’ard hand, R. "'inney, had shown throughout the contest, shot by Tauranga on the run,with Paremata closing up in third place. The leaders maintained their places until half-way through the second lap when, in the freshening westerly, the lighter Tauranga crew began to slip back. Wellington’s spinnaker work down wind kept her ahead of Paremata unt’l the final lap when just before t • windward mark Paremata. which had been trapped under Wellington’s lee, broke through and got away down wind.
Titahi Bay, which had tailed the fleet early in the race, worked through in the fresher winds to finish third.
