GYMNASTS ARRIVE
Year Without Pay (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. A team of 24 Danish gymnasts who have given up their occupations for a year without any salary to tour the world with the 1965-66 Danish gymnastic team arrived in Auckland yesterday. The 12 young men and 12 young women, all aged about 20, who include students, office workers and farmers, even have to find most of their spending money. They were selected from thousands of gymnasts from clubs and organisations throughout Denmark.
The organiser and director of the tour is Mr Eric Flen-sted-Jensen, who has undertaken seven previous tours with Danish gymnasts. He led the team which gave several performances in New Zealand on the world tour of 1955. When the New Zealand tour ends on March 23 the team will leave for Australia. The tour then continues to the Philippines, Hong Kong, Bangkok, India, Pakistan and Greece. The team will be back in Denmark late in May.
