FELT THE COLD
Queensland Surfers (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The 20-strong Queensland surf live-saving team will return home tomorrow with warm impressions of many facets of New Zealand life and surfing, but not of the New Zealand weather. According to the team manager, Mr M. Klinger, one of the greatest difficulties the Queensland team faced was the cold. “It was not so bad in the water, but our boys froze in those cold southerlies as soon as they took their jackets off,” said Mr Klinger. The team lost contests to Auckland and Wellington, the latter on a very cold day, and beat teams at Napier and Christchurch.
The tour, the first by a Queensland side, was exploratory, said Mr Klinger Perhaps in two or three years, it would be repeated with a full-scale competitive team. The tour could also lead to return visits to Queensland by New Zealand club teams. “We have suggested to several clubs that they come to visit us. All our clubs have living quarters, so accommodation wouldn't be a problem,” said Mr Klinger.
Entry Forced.—Jeanette Fashions, Ham road, was entered by force between January 8 and 10. Nothing was reported as having been taken.
