Ties With China Cut <N.Z Prest Assn.—Copyright) BANGUI (Central African Republic), Jan. 9. The Central African Republic formally severed diplomatic ties with Peking yesterday. It is the second African nation to break relations with China this week. Dahomey broke with the Chinese on Monday because of Peking's interference in internal affairs. ; A third republic. Upper i Volta, also is likely to end its ties with the Chinese. i Military coups have toppled the Governments in all three countries in the last 15 days. Colonel Jean Bedel Bokassa. who overthrew the Central African Republic’s President i (Mr David Dacko) on January 11, ordered the break shortly j after gaining power. i Bangui was the scene of a large Chinese industrial trade fair recently. The Chinese sold cut-rate goods ranging from textiles to motor-cycles. Shortly after relations were established, the Chinese agreed to lend four million dollars to the Central African Republic for an indefinite period, half in cash and half i in merchandise.
