Welsh Pick Three New Rugby Men
CN.Z.P.A. Reuter—Copyright) CARDIFF. Three newcomers are included in the Welsh Rugby team to meet England, at Twickenham, on January 15.
| L. Davies (Bridgend) is a surprise replacement for D. Bebb (Swansea), who played in all four internationals last season and holds 28 caps. A. Lewis (Abertillery) replaces C. Rowlands (Ponitypool), who led Wales to a “triple crown” victory last season, and J. Lloyd (Bridgend) will take over from last season’s prop, R. Waldron. Both Lewis and Lloyd played against the Fijian tourists last September, but thi; game was not regarded as a full international. Success In Trials Lewis wins his place on his consistency during the trials and his overshadowing of Rowlands in the final game at Cardiff. The selectors appear to have put the accent on attack by pairing Lewis and the mercurial D. Watkins. Rowlands’ role as skipper goes to A. Pask: The team is:
T. Price (Llanelly), S. J. Watkins (Newport). K. Jones (Cardiff), K. Bradshaw (Bridgend), L. Davis (Bridgend), D. Watkins (Newport), A. Lewis (Abertillery), J. Lloyd (Bridgend). N. R. Gale (Llanelly), D. Williams (Ebbw Vale). B. E. V. Price (Newport). B. E. Thomas (Neath), G. E. Prothero (Bridgend), A. I. E. Pask (Abertillery. captain), H. J. Morgan (Abertillery).
