HOME SWIMMING POOLS

Conditions Fixed

By Council

Conditions were fixed by the City Council on Monday evening for the discharge of water from private swimming pools into street channels. The works committee said there was a noticeable increase in the number of inquiries about private swimming pools. Most were concerned with the disposal of the water, which was not accepted by the Drainage Board into its sewerage system. The council agreed that discharge into side channels should be permitted for cleaning at infrequent intervals, and that no continuous discharge, however small, would be allowed. A fee of 10s a year would be charged for inspection of the water connexion.
