Holms Buy River Gty The 391-ton coaster River City has changed hands. The 13-year-old Dutch-built ship has been sold by the Wanganui Shipping Company to Holm and Company. The ship was originally intended for service in Indonesian rivers and estuaries. But when the Dutch began to leave the East Indies this plan was abandoned and the vessel was sold in 1952 to Captain R D. Stewart, her present master, who was acting for the Wanganui Shipping Company The River City has been mainly in the . Lyttelton-Timaru-Wanganui service. Recently she has been under charter to Holm' and Company. She. will now enter Holm’s normal services—Onehunga, Raglan, New Plymouth, Wellington and South Island ports. The River City is only 150 ft sin long with a beam of 25ft 2in, but she is a sturdy vessel, compact, comfortable and excellent at sea.
