AUST. WANTS N.Z. TOUR
10 To Swim In Nat. Titles (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 18. Australia was interested. in sending a swimming team to New Zealand, if the suggested visit by the American Olympic team did not eventuate, said the president of the New Zealand Swimming Association (Mr B. Simpson) today. Mr Simpson returned recently from Australia where he had talks with leading swimming officials. ■He said the Australians would compete at the national championships in March and also in two or three of the main centres. He said it would not be possible to have both the Americans and Australians on tour, as New Zealand could not afford both. Mr Simpson also looked into the possibility of New Zealand sending a team to compete in the Australian and Victorian junior champ’ mships, late in January.
