HEATHCOTE TRAFFIC

Parking Ban Imposed

All parking has been banned on the east side of Bridle Path road, Heathcote Valley, from near the Ferry road' bridge to the tunnel road access way—a distance »f almost two miles. Twenty “no parking" signs have been erected along the roadside at frequent intervals. The Heathcote County clerk (Mr W. H. Scrimgeour) said that more signs were to be erected in the valley area to restrict parking in other streets.

The parking ban is the result of a survey into the district’s traffic problems by the Transport Department and the two riding members of the Heathcote County Council (Crs. W. B. Laing and J. S. Scott). When cars were permitted to park both sides of Bridle Path road by the public hall, other traffic Dad difficulty in passing. Bridle Path road is carrying an increased volume of traffic since the road tunnel was opened.
