SHOPPERS’ BUS
First Week’s Revenue
In its first five days the Christchurch Transport Board’s shoppers’ bus carried 750 passengers at 3d eachr—making a week's revenue of £9 7s 6d. “So it will have to improve a lot,”’said Mr S. E. Boanas when the board’s finance committee met on Monday. Mr J. F. Fardell, the board’s general manager, said the patronage was growing. Last Friday It was double that of the previous Friday. The rate was now 8.6 passengers a trip. New; distinctive signs were being erected at stops along the route and more sjgns had been added to the bus. These should help to popularise the service. Mr H. E. Denton said the bus had had a very favourable reception, and he was locking forward to the time when the number of buses making the circuit could be increased.
