TROPHY FOR A.T.C.
Brevet Club Presentation
A trophy for the members of No. 18 Squadron, Air Training Corps, showing the greatest efficiency in aircrew subjects was presented on Thursday by the Canterbury Brevet Club to the Squadron. Mr L. V. F. Etwell, president of the club, presented the trophy to Warrant Officer G. Tapper, senior cadet of the squadron. The trophy, which was designed by Mr R. Douglas, is a rocket and a globe mounted on a base. It is worth £35.
“The officers are doing a good job bringing the squadron to the efficiency expected,” said Mr Etwell.
Squadron Leader A. F Jacobsen, officer commanding the squadron, thanked the club for the “most wonderful trophy." He said there were 26 members in the squadron at present, one of which was soon to make an application for service in the regular R.N.Z.A.F. Flying Officer G. Kay, training officer of the squadron, and Pilot Officer N. Laurenson, adjutant, were also present. The No. 18 squadron, which was formed 15 months ago, trains its members for regular service in the R.N.Z.A.F. or for civjl aviation.
"The squadron is being sponsored by the club. All members have been hand picked and all have the basic qualifications for air crew service,” said Mr Etwell.
The annual meeting of the club was then held in committee.
Officers elected were: patron, Sir Robert ClarkHall; president, Mr L R Murray; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Morgan, J. Stanley secretary, Mr K. Rollo; treasurer, Mr L Turner; committee, Messrs D. Jones, T K - Perry, N, Bidwell, A. F. Jacobsen, F. Ferguson; house committee, Messrs F. Emmett, J. Roberts, K. Edgington, K. Stewart; auD ’ Price : solicitor. Mr D. Ames.
