CITY FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION
Proposals To Be Considered
A proposal to form an organisation that will initiate, co-ordinate, and supervise organisation of a Christchurch festival will be considered at a meeting in the Christchurch City Council chambers on Wednesday evening. The meeting will consider recommendations made by sui interim committee set up earlier this month. The interim committee suggests naming the organisation the “Christchurch Arts and Floral Festival Association.” It suggests holding the festival between February 24 and March 10, next year.
The committee also recommends that the association should be managed by a chairman, deputychairman, secretary, treasurer, the Canterbury Public Relations Officer (Mr E. G. Beckett), and a general committee of 12. Included in the general committee should be a representative of the Christchurch City Council. The complete autonomy of each organisation taking part in any festival should be recognised, and in the meantime the association should not be incorporated.
Application for a grant for the festival should be made to the Christchurch City Council, the committee suggests.
