NEW ROADING WORKS
City Council’s Projects
Road works costing £39,100 were authorised by the City Council last evening tor commencement. The works committee said that * list of subsidised works was submitted to the National Roads Board early this year. They amounted to £98,100. To obtain the maximum subsidy available It was necessary that an early start be made.
The jobs to be commenced are:—
Central Ward.—Allen street widening, £3000; Dorset street, form and seal shoulders. £550; Dubin street, form and seal should, ers, £400; Peterborough street, form and seal shoulders, £750. St. Albans.—Croziers road, scarify, metal and seal. £1100; Dover street, widen and form part, £1000; Springfield road. widen, £750.
Sydenham.—Milton street, form and seal shoulders. £900: Thackeray street, form and seal shoulder, £1300: replace drains (Mowbray street). £3OO.
Spreydon. Barrington street (Ashgrove terrace to Rose street) form and seal shoulders. £ 1350: Milton street. form and seal shoulders. £2500. Linwood. —Part Avonside drive extension, reform, £.5000. Woolston.—Dearsley street, reconstruction, £500; Gatherer street, reconstruct, £1100; Lenton street, reconstruct, £2400; Shortland street extension. £2000; Okeqver street, new path, £2OO. New Brighton. Estuary road, reconstruct part, £2OOO. Sumner.—Main road (Shag Rock to Cliff street), reconstruct, £1000; Augusta street to Cave terrace, reconstruct part, £1000; Whitewash Head road, widening, £lOOO.
