TEMPORARY ROOMS

‘Unsatisfactory Position’

Temporary buildings of the University of Canterbury in Worcester street are there "at the pleasure of the City Council,” and the “pleasure" will end in May, 1964, the council decided last night. Retention of the buildings after that date would be considered a breach of the approval, the council agreed. “This is a very unsatisfactory position,” the town planning committee commented on a letter from the University Council saying that although the estimated population on the site in 1964 would be 33?5, the council considered that at that time there was a real possibility that the temporary buildings might be removed.
