Mr Nash To Open
IN.Z. Press Association/ WELLINGTON. May 16. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash) will open the Hurunui by-election campaign when he speaks in Rangiora tomorrow night Mr Nash is speaking in support of the Labour candidate. a 33-year-old railway worker. Mr A. A Adcock. The by-election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of the former Minister of Agriculture. Mr Gillespie, is on June 10 Mr Gillespie had a majority of more than 2000 at last year’s General Election The National Party's cam-, paign is expected to be opened by the Deputy Prime; Minister (Mr Marshall) next week. No date has been set yet for National's opening. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) is expected v to speak in Rangiora in the last week of the campaign He will probably follow Labour's economic spokesman and former Finance Minister. Mr A. H Nordmeyer. MP. who is scheduled to speak in the last week of the campaign. Other Labour speakers will include the party’s deputvleader, Mr C. F Skinner. MP., the former Minister of Transport, Mr J. Mathison. M.P., Mr N. E. Kirk. MP (Lyttelton), and Mr M A Connelly. MP. (Riccarton). National speakers will Include the Minister of Finance (Mr Lake), the Minister of Transport (Mr McAlpine) and probably the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) The Social Credit candidate. Mr M J Clarke, is expected to be supported by the party’s Dominion president (Miss M H M K’ng) and the party leader. Mr P H Matthews Nominations close on Mav 19
