BOY LOSES LEG

Accident With Circular Saw

(From Out Own Reporter) WESTPORT. May 16. When caught in a circular saw this morning by a jersey sleeve, Colin Kerr, aged seven, a son of Mr and Mrs K. Kerr, of Pakington street, Westport, lost his left leg and suffered severe cuts on the buttocks. The accident occurred at a neighbour’s property about 100 yards from the boy’s home. He was evidently playing nearby when Mr E. Raffles was testing the saw in his yard, and was unnoticed. The boy apparently came up behind Mr Raffles, and was caught by the sleeve. His leg was severed above the knee, and it is thought that he must have fallen on the saw to receive the buttock wounds. He was admitted to the Buller Hospital in a critical condition.
