Cerebral Palsy
Sir, —Thank you and Mrs Tatam for her reply concerning cerebral palsy. If only recently in the United States have a small number of communities begun to establish special public schools then Christchurch may take heart in being up to date with a splendid special school. Perhaps that fact may stimulate our community still further to
aid in founding a, desired hostel for those not’ able to continue with either education or home care in the South Island. With their present necessity to travel and remain apart from their families in northern isolations, might we not emulate Los Angeles, maintain our lead following the Worcester street school, and assist the group of city mothers endeavouring to establish a southern hostel for aid and care? Progressive scientific research to lead the world, in Christchurch, might well eventuate from public interest now. —Yours, etc., FOR GUIDANCE. May 14, 1961.
