Arrest Of Generals (N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) TEHERAN, May 14. Five top generals of the Persian Army were arrested on Saturday on charges of corruption. embezzlement, misappropriation of Government funds, and misuse of power, according to official sources last night. An official identified the five as: Mehdigholi AlavfMoghadam. a former Interior Minister and for several years Chief of Police, All Akbar Zargham, a former Finance Minister and Minister of Customs and Monopolies; Haj Ki. former chief of the armed forces intelligence and counter espionage; Mohammad Daftari. former chief of the Army arsenal and former chief of physical culture organisation; and Rouhollah Nevici, former heed of the Fisheries Department dealing with sale and distribution of Persia's famous caviar.
They will be tried by a military court after Investigations are completed and an indictment is prepared. Other officials including civilians are expected to be brought before the courts on corruption charges. The new Prime Minister (Dr. Ali Amini) on Saturday, set up three special committees to look into all corruption cases, investigate public complaints against officials of the Government, past and present, and bring those found involved in misappropriation to justice.
