OVERTIME BAN

Spread In London

IN Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, May 15. A ban on voluntary overtime by Post Office engineers yesterday threatened to spread further in London after an extension to Wale* on Saturday. The engineers, who maintain central London telephone exchanges and the Television Control Centre, have imposed the ban against what they claim is the Post Office’s failure to negotiate their pay claim. After a meeting of three north London branches of the Post Office Engineering Union, a spokesman said yesterday that 2000 men in the north London area would join the ban from next Wednesday In Swansea on Saturday, the local branch decided to stop all overtime as from next Thursday. The ban now involves an estimated 8000 engineers in London and the provinces. * The pay claim, submitted in November last year, is for rises ranging between 18s and £3 a week for more than 70.000 engineers.
