CHARGE OF RAPE
Student Pleads Guilty
(N.Z Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 15. Michael Anthony Wills aged 19, a university student, pleaded guilty to a charge of raping a 14-year-old girl when he appeared in the Supreme Court today before the Chief Justice (Sir Harold Barrowclough). Wills had previously pleaded not guilty and had been committed for trial a’ the quarterly sessions of the Court which open tomorrow He had been charged with raping a 14-year-old girl at the North Ground on April 16. and had pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court on April 24. He came before the Supreme Court today at his own written request andl pleaded guilty. His Honour said he would require reports. He said that on the deposition Wills had been well advised and this would count in his favour He then remanded Wills until 10 am. on May 26. Wills was represented by Mr J. S D. More; Mr J B Deaker appeared for the Crown.
