May 14 Firemen aided by “waterbombing” aircraft yesterday succeeded in controlling a 1200-acre forest fire in the Hollywood Hills which destroyed or damaged 24 homes; One of the houses that was gutted belonged to the author Aldous Huxley Friends had to stop him from entering bis blazing home on Friday night in an effort to rescue priceless manuscripts and research material.
